An OpenRouter alternative with per-request cost accounting and on-prem

ModelBeat is an OpenRouter alternative: an OpenAI-compatible LLM gateway and model router. You change the base URL, and the intelligence tier that answered, token counts and price come back on every response. It routes only to models it has vetted, scores each request before it runs, keeps an append-only audit log, and can be deployed hybrid or on-premises, which OpenRouter does not publish.

Last checked 27 October 2026 against OpenRouter’s own docs and pricing pages.

The short answer

Switching is a base URL change. What you get in return is a vetted model set, scoring before inference, per-request cost on every response, an audit log and an on-premises option. What you give up is breadth: OpenRouter lists hundreds of models and a free tier, and ModelBeat routes to a smaller approved set.
