What this covers
This policy applies to the ModelBeat marketing website and, where noted, to the console. It does not apply to the API, which has no browser and sets nothing.
In this policy, cookies is shorthand for the whole family of browser storage: cookies proper, local storage, session storage and anything similar. The law treats them much the same way and so do we.
What we set today
The one thing we store is your answer to the cookie banner, and we store it in your browser's local storage rather than in a cookie, so that answering the banner does not itself set one.
- Name
- modelbeat.consent
- Type
- Local storage, first party
- Purpose
- Remembers which categories you allowed, so we do not ask again on every page.
- Contents
- The categories you chose, the date you chose them, and the version of this policy that was in force.
- Duration
- Until you clear it, or until we publish a materially changed policy and ask again.
- Category
- Strictly necessary. It exists to honour your choice, so it is there whatever you choose.
If you never answer the banner, nothing is stored and nothing non essential loads. You do not have to find a setting in order to decline.
The categories
The banner offers three categories. Two of them are empty right now. They exist so that if we add something later, it is already covered by a choice you have made.
- Strictly necessary
- Needed for the site to work: security, load balancing, and remembering your cookie choice. These cannot be switched off, and consent is not required for them. Currently: your cookie choice, and nothing else.
- Analytics
- Aggregate measurement of how the site is used, so we can tell which pages are worth keeping. Off unless you turn it on. Currently: nothing.
- Marketing
- Measuring whether a campaign worked, and advertising. Off unless you turn it on. Currently: nothing.
Nothing in the optional categories is pre-selected, and refusing them costs you nothing on this site. When we add a service to one of them, this page gains the specific name, provider, purpose and duration before that service goes live.
The console
The ModelBeat console is a signed in application, and it uses strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to protect the session against forgery. Those are exempt from consent because without them there is no console. They are session scoped and carry no advertising identifier.
Changing your mind
There is a Cookie settings link in the footer of every page, and it reopens the same panel the banner opens. Withdrawing consent takes the same number of clicks as giving it.
You can also clear site data in your browser, which removes the stored answer. The banner will then ask again on your next visit. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies globally as well, though doing that on a signed in application will sign you out.
If we materially change what we set or why, we will ask again. An old answer will not be treated as covering something new.
Third parties
We run no third party analytics and no advertising pixels on this site. Fonts are self hosted rather than loaded from a font network, so viewing this page does not tell anyone else that you did.
One third party embed exists. Our video clips are hosted on LinkedIn, and the player is a LinkedIn iframe. It loads only when you click a clip to play it, so nothing reaches LinkedIn from simply reading this site. Once you do play one, LinkedIn receives the request and may set its own cookies under its own policy, which we do not control. If you would rather it did not, do not play the clip.
Links out to other sites, including our parent company's, are just links. Once you are there, their own policies apply. How we handle personal data generally is in the Privacy Policy.
